Takazawa Candles has been making traditional Japanese candles since 1892! Using techniques that haven't changed since the 16th century, all of their candles exude such a simple beauty! And, the wax is made from plant-based raw materials, which means they let off less soot and smoke than paraffin candles. The wick is made from dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder, both derived from nature as well, making them eco-friendly. They also burn brighter since their wicks are thicker in diameter than typical candles.
The shape of the "Tohaku" series of candles is inspired by the pine trees around Nanao, Japan where Takazawa Candles is based. They are made from 100% natural sumac wax.
