nanao candles
Takazawa Candles has been making traditional Japanese candles since 1892! Using techniques that haven't changed since the 16th century, all of their candles exude such a simple beauty! And, the wax is made from plant-based raw materials, which means they let off less soot and smoke than paraffin candles. The wick is made from dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder, both derived from nature as well, making them eco-friendly. They also burn brighter since their wicks are thicker in diameter than typical candles.
The "Nanao" series of candles are made from 100% natural sumac wax. With their 130 minute burn time, they are perfect to use during dinners! The interesting shapes of each is inspired by the art and nature of the city of Nanao, where the candles are made. There are five different candle silhouettes, all with a motif of a different plant that grows in the Noto Peninsula. And, the candles are all named after a letter of the word "plant."
